Our Connection to .. The Luton Brass Band

Edward Sydney Carter
1885 - 1948
Cornet & Flugel Horn Player

(Ted to his friends)

Ted, who apparently, said if they won the championships he would 'chuck' his flugel
horn under an on coming train. Guess What!! He did precisely that, he
chucked his flugel horn from the train when the Luton Brass Band won the National Championships in 1923.

Ted (no longer playing a Flugel!) is standing in the middle of the band, just below the
gentleman with the straw hat, in the middle of the top row.
